CANNED PINEAPPLE from Brighton
Coming to The Lab in Northampton for their second night of a mini-Northampton residency are Brighton’s slacker rock outfit Canned Pineapple. They are a much-needed kick in the teeth for indie rock music and have the precious gift of being able to combine Teenage Fanclub-style heartbreakingly gorgeous melodies with the crunching guitar assault of bands like Dinosaur Jr. Their ridiculously memorable songs have been making audiences fall instantly in love with them across the UK and Ireland since 2022. They have been invited to play at the New Colossus festival in New York City in March of 2024, so it’s safe to say that this band is going places!
KICKBOY from Bristol…
KickBoy are the chaotic “milk-punk” 5-piece from South London. They coined the term after being labelled as an egg-punk band (an apparent sub-genre of post-punk) and decided they deserved their own sub-sub-genre dedicated to their brand of self-described “goblin energy.” Starting life as a garage rock 3-piece in Bristol back in 2019, the band has reformed, acquiring 2 new members to include synth and sax. After gigging relentlessly for a year with a refreshed lineup in their newfound London scene, they have just released their first single of this new era.
