Kate Lissauer, acclaimed leader in the UK’s old-time and country scene, is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and composer from Maryland, USA, who has been living and performing in the UK for many years.
Honing her musical skills and creativity on the byways of rural West Virginia, and inspired by her late father—folk radio presenter and banjo player Ted Lissauer—Kate is a proud ambassador of the rich living tradition of songs and tunes from North American roots and the early days of Country music.
Kate is a multi-award-winning fiddler both in her home state and in the UK, and an excellent banjo and guitar player and singer. She has toured extensively through numerous Arts Council touring schemes, and has also worked as a community songwriter through the Live & Local arts organisation.
